TORONTO, ONTARIO, December 15, 2010 – Constellation Software Inc. (“Constellation”) (TSX:CSU) today announced that it has entered into an asset purchase agreement for the purchase of selected assets of John Deere Agri Services, Inc., (“JDAS”), a division of Deere & Company. The transaction is expected to close in January 2011 subject to satisfaction of certain conditions typical in a transaction of this nature.
JDAS is a provider of software solutions and services to the agri-business industry. Its portfolio of solutions includes the AGRIS and ExtendAg product suites serving the grains, oilseeds, fruit, and vegetable industries.
“This acquisition builds upon Constellation’s agri-business platform providing new opportunities to expand our market footprint and offering in North America,” said Jim Baker, President, Agri-Business division within Constellation.
Other agri-businesses under the Constellation umbrella include UK-based organizations BMS Computer Solutions, Cal Software, and Kinross Software.
