(“Constellation”) today announced that Trapeze ITS, a leading provider of solutions to the public passenger transportation industry and a subsidiary of Constellation, has signed a significant contract with Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (“DART”) of Des Moines, Iowa for provision of a comprehensive intelligent transportation system.
The solution for DART includes TransitMaster IDS, a next generation computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location (CAD/AVL) technology providing intelligent decision support and enabling DART to manage their operations in a proactive manner. The CAD/AVL system also provides up-to-the-moment vehicle location information making it possible to provide real-time information to travelers through DART’s Web site and interactive voice response system.
In addition, buses equipped with mobile data terminals provide real-time voice and data communications between vehicle operators and dispatchers. Select vehicles will be provided with on-board audio and visual annunciation, automatic passenger counters, and vehicle health monitoring.
Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority is the largest public transit agency in Iowa, serving 19 cities in and around Polk County.
